Build an approximately 20-foot-long by 12-foot-deep open-front vehicle shelter with a single-slope metal roof. This digital package takes the project from site layout and six ground-set posts through the complete open shelter, then provides a separate optional three-wall enclosure.

IMPORTANT SCOPE NOTE

The core design builds an open vehicle shelter. Instructions for optional left, right, and rear walls are included, but those walls are installed only after the open shelter passes final inspection. The front remains completely open.

The package does not include a front wall, doors, concrete slab, gutters, electrical work, parking stops, storage racks, utilities, or other after-build accessories. Optional walls change wind exposure, drainage, ventilation, and structural demands, so obtain local approval before adding them.

WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE

- One 50-page complete building-guide PDF - One 13-sheet measured blueprint PDF - One STL model of the open shelter for 3D reference - One STL model of the optional enclosed version for 3D reference

The guide includes project orientation, complete purchasing guidance, measured component schedules, site and foundation work, roof framing, metal-roof installation, optional-wall guidance, ordered construction phases, illustrated checkpoints, correction notes, final inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

WHAT THE PLANS BUILD

The core shelter is approximately 20 feet long by 12 feet deep, with a 10-foot high front and an 8-foot rear. The post-center layout is 226 1/2 inches along the length by 136 1/2 inches across the depth. The outside post-face envelope is 230 inches long by 140 inches deep.

The finished structure has an open front and single-slope roof. The optional package closes the left, right, and rear sides while keeping the vehicle entrance open.

PROJECT SCOPE AND REQUIREMENTS

The sequence covers site selection, utility checks, layout, excavation, compacted bases, post setting, concrete placement, roof-slope establishment, field-fit framing, permanent bracing, roof installation, open-core inspection, optional wall work, and ongoing care.

The guide rates the project as intermediate overall, with each operation divided into beginner-sized tasks. Plan for approximately 4-6 workdays for the open shelter, plus cure time and optional-wall work. At least two capable people are needed for layout and post work, and three adults are recommended when lifting long structural members or roof panels.

WOOD COST GUIDE

The open-shelter wood and lumber planning subtotal printed in the guide is $349.20. The separate optional-wall lumber subtotal is $117.36. Pricing was researched for Georgia, USA, on August 8, 2026. These wood subtotals exclude taxes, delivery, tools, hardware, roofing, concrete, gravel, permits, optional finish, and other non-wood items. Verify current local costs before purchasing.
