How our pricing works
There are two kinds of prices here: the current Etsy price for a ready-made download, and the posted price for a custom design service. Both reflect the work behind the files—not a physical item in a box.
01 / Shop files
Ready-made guides and cut files
Each ready-made product has its own price on Etsy, where checkout takes place. A small CNC design and a full building guide do not involve the same amount of work, so they are not priced the same. Check the individual listing for the current price and exactly which formats, plans, images, or other files it includes.
Step-by-step building guides
Pricing reflects the design and documentation work: measured plans, build sequence, material and hardware research, and any extra resources stated in that particular listing.
CNC & laser design files
Pricing reflects the artwork, file preparation, detail, and included formats. Machine-specific sizing and toolpath setup are separate unless the listing says otherwise.
Current website catalog: 34 building guides at $8.74–$65.99, and 139 CNC and laser designs at $4.99–$36.98. These are catalog ranges, not a quote for any particular file. Etsy shows the final price for each listing.
02 / Behind the files
What the work involves
For a building guide, we work through dimensions, layout, a build order, lumber and hardware quantities, and a materials list. We research price references and buying sources so customers have a useful starting point instead of making every list from scratch. Depending on the listing, the package may also include blueprints, photos, cut lists, and a 3D model.
For a CNC or laser file, we develop the design and prepare the listed digital formats. The buyer still needs to confirm the file suits their software, machine, material, size, and toolpath. We do not claim every file includes every format or works with every machine.
03 / A head start
Where the time savings come from
A ready-made guide can spare you the early work of measuring a project from zero, planning the build order, and compiling your first shopping list. A prepared cut file can spare you from drawing the artwork yourself. How much time you save depends on your experience, tools, and project.
Our own research and design time also varies by complexity. A small nesting box and a large shelter require very different levels of drafting, material planning, checking, and documentation, so we do not promise a single number of hours for every product. Material prices are estimates at the time of research and can change by store and location; check local costs and requirements before building.

Custom design prices
For a new design, the resale option costs less because Cozy Grain Design may offer the design to other buyers later. The exclusive option costs more because we agree not to resell that design. An update costs less than a new design because it begins with an existing guide. These prices cover design work—not building materials or physical construction.

A private update includes an updated guide, 3D model, blueprints, materials list, and project price guide. A new design includes a step-by-step guide, materials list, 3D model, blueprints, pictures, and a project price list tailored to the location you provide. CNC and other custom work is quoted after we review your request.
